Hlengiwe Penelope Ndlela – Audit Partner at EY| Assurance Market Segment Leader| MAcc Graduate| SAICA Top 35 Under 35 Category Winner| PhD Candidate
Hlengiwe Ndlela is a Chartered Accountant (SA), RA (registered auditor with IRBA) who is currently employed by the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) as a Lecturer in the Auditing department, lecturing in the B Com Accounting Degree offered in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance in the College of Law and Management Studies. She is the Programme Manager for the Thuthuka Bursary Fund at UKZN which the University has managed to be part of after not having it for a number of years. She is a coordinator for the PGDA African Students Intervention – CTA level. Lastly, she is also a Program Manager for the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.
She has a Masters in Accountancy Degree and is currently working towards her Doctoral studies. She uses her qualifications to enhance the lives of those around her through supporting businesses.
She volunteers for MOWCS internal Audit as a non-executive adviser and am the Finance Committee Chairperson for MOWCS KNFSA. In addition she volunteers for AWCA KZN Region and ABASA KZN Region committee. She is also an audit committee member for a Municipality in KZN.
In an attempt to uplift young girls at an early stage, she is the Chairperson and cofounder of an NPO organisation – 1Woman1Girl Mentorship Program, that fosters mentorship of girls in high school with an attempt to develop and mentor the girls, providing them with a sisterhood.
Prior to joining UKZN she was in the employment of Engen Petroleum Limited, Refinery in Durban (Wentworth) as a Refinery Accountant for a period of 2 years 5 months. She was responsible for the monthly reporting of OPEX and to providing support to divisions in managing and reporting of costs.
Prior to the that, she was in the Financial Services Industry as an Assistant Audit Manager at EY in the Durban office. The year 2014 was her 4th year being with the firm, after having completed her 3 year articles or training contract.
Buhle Hanise – Chief Financial Officer at BAIC SA
Buhle Hanise is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of BAIC Automobile SA effective 01 Jan 2020. Chinese vehicle manufacturer Beijing Automotive Group i.e. BAIC is the major shareholder in the joint venture (JV), holding 65% of the BAIC SA Port Elizabeth plant, with the State-owned IDC holding the remaining 35%.
Buhle is also the Deputy President of the African Women Chartered Accountants Forum(“AWCA”).
In 2019, Buhle was selected to Champion raising of R1bn Post Commencement Fund at the IDC. Buhle is also a Panellist of the SARIPA (South African Restructurings & Insolvency Practitioners) Young Bloods Seminars. She is one of the judges of the Accenture Rising Star Awards to be held in August 2019.
Keshni Kuni – Executive Head: IFRS Technical and Tax Accounting, Standard Bank Group, South Africa
Keshni Kuni is the Executive head for IFRS Technical and Tax Accounting at the Standard Bank Group. She graduated at the University of Witwatersrand in 2007 and qualified as a CA(SA) in 2010. She completed her professional accounting training at EY and later joined the EY IFRS technical team supporting financial services clients. In 2013 she joined the Standard Bank Group IFRS technical team. She has been involved in a number of accounting technical initiatives since joining the bank seven years ago, these include, assisting in the implementation of multiple new accounting standards within the group, most notably IFRS 7, IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and most recently IFRS 16; contributing to Africa Regions annual training plan and training material; being the project lead of the group’s IFRS 9, 15 and 16 Implementation Working Group; designing the group’s external reporting disclosure templates; simplification of the group’s accounting policies and preparing and presenting accounting issues paper for the group audit committee. In early 2019 she was promoted to be Executive head of the Standard Bank Group IFRS technical team and shortly after took over the groups tax accounting function.
Keshni is also the financial services representative of SAICA’s Accounting Practice Committee (APC) since 2017. She is also a member of SAICA’s Banking Project Group Accounting Matters group.
Zee Harduth – Head of Learnerships at the AGSA
Zee Harduth is the recently appointed Head for Learnerships at the AGSA. A qualified CA(SA) trained at PKF Octagon. She has over 12 years of financial services and management consulting experience, spearheading roles including the Head of Transfer Pricing. Prior to this Zee held the role of Training officer of the Specialist training programmes at Nedbank. Her management consulting experience provided her with exposure to all 4 big banks reporting directly to 2 of the CEOs on special projects. Her most rewarding consulting role was working with Graca Machel and the late Nelson Mandela in finalising his contributions to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. In her role as Training officer, over 150 CAs qualified under her supervision, with an impressive 100% pass rate for both ITC and APC for 6 consecutive years including 10 honors roll candidates. Her passion for community upliftment was recognised, when she was featured in the Mail and Guardian book of South African Women . She is also the co-founder of cSheO, an empowerment foundation endorsed by WeAct Global to develop female entrepreneurs and women in corporate, private and public sector. Mom to twin girls, fashion obsessed, lego builder and book worm summarises how her personal time is occupied”
