Sharon is primarily responsible for tax advocacy at SAICA which includes the development of tax legislation in South Africa by commenting on proposed legislation. She engages with the media and various stakeholders in this regard including the Tax Ombud, SARS, National Treasury, Parliament and other international organisations such as the OECD. She is also responsible for the various tax technical committees at SAICA which include the Transfer Pricing, VAT, Employees’ Tax, Carbon Tax and the Exchange Control Committees.
Previously, she was an Associate Professor in the Financial Intelligence Department at UNISA, Head of Tax Technical and Research at the South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT), an Associate Professor in Taxation at the University of Pretoria and a manager at Deloitte.
