Improving public service delivery by local authorities / municipalities through the independence and effectiveness of Audit Committees
The Audit Committee is a key contributor to good governance. It plays a crucial role in assisting the relevant Governing Body in discharging its responsibilities in overseeing financial and performance management, governance and internal controls. This session seeks to discuss the scope, composition and effectiveness of audit committees, and their ability to improve public service delivery across local authorities/municipalities. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to identify ways to challenge the current status quo of audit committees in local government.
